Review

Upside Down had a pretty cool plot and great effects, and it could have made a really, really great sci-fi movie if the studio had played their cards right. However, they didn't.      I kind of knew this movie was going to be mediocre because it was on Netflix (I like Netflix but I feel like most of their movies are either indie or bad.)
The movie didn't make much sense. I mean, the plot was pretty straight forward (think Romeo & Juliet meets Elysium) but the physics of it were pretty screwed up. That's not why I didn't like it. I love when movies have incredibly complex ideas.
The reason I didn't really like this movie was that it kind of skipped around a lot and didn't really explain what happened in between scenes. For instance, you wouldn't understand how two side by side scenes of the movie had anything to do with each other. Because of this, it was really hard to follow.
The other reason that I didn't like this movie very much was that it had some very great  improbabilities, mostly about whether such and such a fall would result in the death of a character or not. You'll understand if you see it.

Summary

In this romantic sci-fi cross between Romeo and Juliet and Elysium, Adam lives on the poorer of two worlds that are within a couple miles of each other but each have their own gravitational pulls. His mission is to find his lost lover from the rich upper planet. Oh yah, they aren't aloud to communicate. Have to add some angst.
