Review
This is one of the best movies ever made in my own humble opinion. The reason that I'm reviewing it 6 years after the fact is that I didn't see it until a good long time after the fact myself.
Not only is this movie a great soundtrack (O-saya-llego-ayo-a-llora-ello....... No, not working for me? Well okay!), but it also happens to be a great movie too, which is an added bonus :). It's a gripping action thriller with lots of twists (kind of) and plenty of action and drama. The fact that it won best picture is an actual bonus.
I went into this movie skeptical. My parents said it was good so I was automatically against it. However, after I watched the first couple of minutes of this film (SS (Side Script): When I first wrote that line I, for some reason said when I read the first couple of chapters), I began to see why this film won best picture. However, despite some seemingly minor violence and and swears written in subtitles, I still fail to see why this movie is rated R. I would have rated it PG13, definitely, but not R.
Anyway, I thought Slumdog Millionaire was one of the best dramas I've ever seen (which, let me point out, isn't saying much as I really hate dramas.) But, in all seriousness, I loved this movie.

Synopsis
Slumdog Millionaire is the (3 and a half hour long) story of Jamal Malik, a teenage chai wallah who gives tea to telephone telemarketers who work for AT&T in Delhi, India. He decided to go on the show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire but, when he starts getting all the answers right, the police think he's cheating. As the story unfolds, we learn of Jamal's troubling past and the love he could never have.

So, you know the drill (if you follow Flixified). I have one paragraph about swears, one about sex (my personal favorite!!!! :) ), and one about violence. This one can serve as the one about sex as there is so little of it in this movie (and as I love writing about sex (I'm not actually a pervert, just so you know. I'm saying this stuff to be funny!) There is some sexual talk and references and characters prepare to have sex on screen. There is also quite a bit of minor sexual imagery in certain scenes.
As far as swearing goes, there are some swears written as subtitles as the characters say them in another language (Hindi, presumably). However, I cannot think of any incredibly explicit language. There are some racial slurs but they'll go right over your kid's head.
In the field of violence, there are a couple of scenes that have large amounts of action in them. In one, they pull a boy's eyes out with a spoon, in another, men torture a young man quite a bit. Here are some scenes to watch out for:
- First scene (Right when the movie starts, there is quite a bit of graphic torture imagery.
- Mutilation scene (Get on edge when the boy is signing alone at the table while the two men watch)
- Red Light District Scene (Get on edge when the scene starts and they are standing in the red light district.)
