Review
The amount of awesome in this movie is almost too much to bare. I don't think this movie could have been made any better, and Rotten Tomatoes sucks for giving it 50%!
I thought this movie, despite being a movie about magicians, was very good. If I had one complaint, it would be that it was a little too twisty. Crazy, I know. I'm always talking about movies being to obvious and now that I have a movie that fits the bill of being very mysterious, I'm calling it too twisty. But I still definitely recommend it.
Now You See Me's story is pretty cool, although some of the twists at the end are slightly over the top. You'll understand if/when you watch it.
Even though I'm not counting this in my rating because all of the great stuff more than makes up for it, the plot had some weird holes. For instance, the main twist. I don't want to give anything away so I won't tell you what it is, but I know that I at least felt like "what, why did this character do that if he really was working for these people? This doesn't make much sense."
I thought the visual effects were some of the best pieces of the movie. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't mean that everything else wasn't great too, I would just like to remark on how awesome these effects really were. Even the parts that weren't visual effects, but just really awesome magic tricks were so cool. I guess it wasn't that the effects were awesome, but that the effectish (is that a word) scenes were super well carried. Hats off to the Visual Director!
Summary
In this action thriller (I guess that's how I'd describe it) from the makers of Transformers and The Transporter, 4 magicians nicknamed The Four Horsemen attempt to join a secret magicians group called The Eye by dazzling audiences with bank robberies during their shows. Similar to a modern day Robin Hood, Now You See Me will amaze!
